The board Brief

The brief is the leadership-facing read of your program. It is built from the same data as the board-report exports, so what you present and what you export never disagree.

What it leads with

The brief opens with your board priorities: what leadership is trying to achieve, whether your capabilities support it, and what is missing. That ordering is deliberate, because a board thinks in outcomes rather than in security programs. See Reading the board brief.

Security program context

Below the priorities sits the program view: your headline score, what moved since the last snapshot, the talking points behind the movement, and where your trajectory is heading. It answers the follow-up questions rather than leading with them.

Reading it honestly

Everything in the brief comes from a stored snapshot rather than being recomputed as you read, so the numbers you present are the numbers that existed when the snapshot was taken. If your priorities changed after that snapshot, the brief says so rather than implying the assessment already accounts for them.
